You do not need to create an account in Scopus in order to search the database, download pdfs, or export your results. You do need a personal account if you wish to save search strategies, create alerts, or save citations to folders. You will also need an account if you wish to manage your Author profile. If you have created a personal account in another Elsevier product, like Mendeley or ScienceDirect, you do not need to create a new account in Scopus. You may log in with your Elsevier credentials.
